The Hired Edition

I wanted to create a project that would help me stand out from other applicants during the post graduation job hunt. Who wants to look at thousands of resumes? SNOOZE! Boring!! I really like energy drinks, so I recreated my favorite one paying special attention to fonts and meticulous vectorization. When compared to a can, it's a near identical match! :)

This project required reaching out to many suppliers to find a budget friendly way to produce the quality I was looking for, as I was on a tight budget but was not willing to sacrifice quality.
Idea and planning phase

Reference Can

Textures, I wanted partially matte and partially glossy or foil

Design completed - Dark colors will be glossy on final render
BOXes

Due to the high cost of custom printed and difficulty of most companies having a minimum order quantity, I ended up purchasing white boxes and hand painting them myself.

LABELS

While matching fonts, art and scale were not easy, I found it fun to gain new insights on label design.
My biggest challenge with the labels was finding a method of execution. Printing directly on the can or having bottling labels made would have largely exceeded my personal budget, along with the fact that I would have had way too many! I mentioned above that I wanted the textures to be different than what you would find on a regular can, but not flat like a sticker. Most companies that print on vinyl (another option) were not able to have both glossy and matte in the same design, so I ended up using paper stickers with spot UV coating.
PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

I painted the can tabs red to match the color scheme of the can.

A final obstacle I ran into was that my can was a few millimeters too wide for my box, so it didn't want to keep itself closed. To remedy that, I ordered a roll of velcro. I know that it is intended to be applied soft side out, however, I like the look it gives off when applied "backwards".
